The Chinese chestnut variety certified by the National Forestry Cultivar Approval Committee in 2016, named Castanea mollissima cv.‘Yanshanzaofeng’，was an excellent cultivar. This cultivar is characterized by early maturity, high quality, high yield and wide adaptability, which solved the problem of poor quality in most early-maturing varieties. The planting area of 'Yanshanzaofeng' has reached 60,000 hectares, which becomes the first main Chinese chestnut cultivar in Hebei. It was introduced to and cultivated by Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, Shanxi, Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Yunnan and other provinces. The planting area outside Hebei is more than 20,000 hectares, which indicates that it is also the first main Chinese chestnut cultivar in China. In 2020, it was selected as one of the 100 key promotion achievements by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration. ‘The technology of trimming, pruning and renewing in turns’ has the advantages of labor saving, high yield and avoiding early crown closure. Its main content was included in the national forestry industry standard-LY /T 1337-2017.
