Hebei·China - Kuala Lumpur·Malaysia Online Exchange Meeting on Science and Technology Cooperation

On June 28th, the Hebei·China - Kuala Lumpur·Malaysia Online Exchange Meeting on Science and Technology Cooperation was held by HAAFS and Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute(MARDI). The director of International Cooperation Divsion, related experts from Institute of Cereal and Oil Crops, Institute of Cash Crops and Institute of Agricultural Information and Economics of HAAFS, and the deputy-director of Corporate Communication Center, related experts from Industrial Crop Research Center, Horticulture Research Center and Engineering Research Center of MARDI attended the meeting.


The meeting aimed to strengthen the ties between the two sides, focusing on the full communication and exchange of three proposed cooperation projects such as sweet potato breeding, speed breeding of vegetables and water-saving technology. During the meeting, the two sides respectively introduced the recent scientific research progress, scientific research achievements, industrial status, problems faced, cooperation plans and expected effect. Attendees also conducted in-depth and detailed discussions on the cooperative research of molecular marker-assisted breeding of vegetables, haploid breeding of sweet potato, training plans, and clarified the specific content of cooperation between the two sides.

  


The two sides agreed to establish a normalized exchange mechanism, establish a steering committee for cooperation and exchange, and actively promote the development of the project. After the meeting, ZHANG Meishen, the director of the International Cooperation Division of HAAFS, made arrangements for the next step of the three projects. She stressed the need to attach great importance to cooperation and exchanges with Malaysia, actively communicate with the Malaysian side, and strive to start online training within this year. The convening of this meeting further deepened the understanding of both sides, promoted the substantive cooperation, and was a concrete action to implement “the Belt and Road Initiative”.
