The "Jidou" series of high-yield and high-quality soybean varieties achieved new results in actual harvest and yield testing, and the large-scale soybean yield improvement action has achieved significant results. The yield test result of ‘Jidou 17’ reached 349.40 kg/mu, ‘Jidou 21’ reached 312.45 kg/mu, ‘Jidou 32’ yield test reached 310.35 kg/mu, an increase of 12.7% compared to the control.

38° N latitude has always been known as the golden latitude of the earth and is the best agricultural planting area. The climate in this region is mild, with abundant sunshine and fertile soil, making it very suitable for crop growth. Gaocheng District, located in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, is precisely at this latitude and has natural conditions and geographical advantages for producing high-quality soybeans. It is the main production area of high-quality soybeans in Hebei Province and has been recognized as a national level soybean seed production county and a national level soybean science and technology self-improvement demonstration county. The soybean planting area remains stable at over 100000 mu throughout the year, ranking 1 among all counties in Hebei Province.

Soybean is a dual-purpose crop for both grain and oil crops, and is the main source of plant protein for Chinese residents. Among the major grain and oil crops, the wheat and rice yields have reached the world's leading level, while the average yield of crops such as soybean, corn, and rapeseed are much lower than that of countries such as Brazil and the United States. At present, the average yield of soybean per mu in China is 132.7 kg, which is only 60% to 70% of the world average yield. Under the important premise of ensuring food security, the arable land resources used for soybean production are very limited. Therefore, carrying out large-scale yield improvement is the only way to achieve the revitalization of the soybean industry, and promoting excellent varieties and comprehensive technology integration is particularly important.

The "Jidou" series of soybean varieties is a high oil, high protein and high-quality soybean variety independently developed by the expert team of the Soybean Center of HAAFS to address the shortcomings of low soybean production in China and the lack of high-quality specialized soybeans. In recent years, the demonstration base has focused on showcasing and promoting high-quality varieties, laying a solid foundation for a bountiful soybean harvest.

In 2022 and 2023, the high-yield field of ‘Jidou 21’ participated in the national soybean high-yield competition. In 2022, it was named the 'Golden Bean King' in the summer sowing net crop group, and achieved good results of ranking 6 in 2023. The oil content of ‘Jidou 17’ reached 23.42%, which is 1 to 2 percentage points higher than the national index. It has also achieved a large-scale actual yield of over 300 kilograms per mu. In 2020, the Gaocheng Demonstration Base achieved a measured yield of 355.1 kilograms per mu, setting a record for high yield in the Huang-Huai-Hai soybean summer sowing production area. In April 2024, it was selected as an agricultural leading variety by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

In recent years, the Gaocheng Demonstration Base has not only selected the best varieties, but also focused on promoting comprehensive cultivation techniques such as summer soybean wheat stubble no tillage and straw covering sowing combined with seed coating agents, chemical control, and one spray multiple prevention, bringing a qualitative leap to soybean planting technology in Gaocheng area.
